RHYTHMIC

PROGRAM ( 6 +  )

Our Ballet /Rhythmic Gymnastics program was designed to introduce children to Ballet, Dance and Rhythmic Gymnastics, and help them to find out what this sport is all about. This program is  based on USAG Rhythmic Gymnastics levels 3 and 4 program and focused on learning fundamental body movements and apparatus techniques  using ball, ribbon, hoop, and rope. Ballet training is included as an integrated component of Rhythmic Gymnastics.

Children are practicing 1 to 3 hours a week, participate in level/skill tests, and  have an opportunity to perform in Miami Gymnastics Winter and Summer Shows. More advanced gymnasts can participate in competitions.

Miami Gymnastics is usually hosting 1 or more local competitions per year and this is an unforgettable experience that will open the door for a little gymnast into  big sport. Besides local competitions, there are some exiting trips to the Sun Coast Annual Sport Festival in Tampa plus some more competitions FL State and out of State.

Competition events test the strength, rhythm, musicality, balance, flexibility and agility of the gymnast.  Rhythmic Gymnastics is a unique combination of Dance, Ballet and Art interlaced with gymnastics. It is a sport that harmonizes body movement with grace and beauty of dance and music, while working with ribbons, balls, hoops, ropes and clubs in a choreographed dance-and-tumble routine.

The choreography must cover the entire floor and contain a balanced choice of the groups of elements, including jumps, leaps, pivots, balances and flexibility movements. Each movement involves a high degree of flexibility and athletic skill.

 RHYTHMIC LEAGUE ( 6 +  y.o.)

Rhythmic Gymnastics requires a great amount of discipline and determination. We believe it is extremely important to develop and help to instill these attributes in young gymnasts as early as possible.

The League program is designed to prepare the gymnasts for the competitions by emphasizing strong basic fundamentals, strength, flexibility, discipline and respect for the sport. Rhythmic Gymnastics as a “sport” is totally different from Rhythmic Gymnastics as an “activity”!

Gymnasts are hand selected for this program based on their attitude, work ethic, desire, gymnastics skills, strength and flexibility. It is a competitive program and all competitive gymnasts at Miami Gymnastics are provided with a challenging, disciplined environment to further build their abilities with other gymnasts who share similar potential and desire.

Training will maintain a balance of seriousness and fun, and the entire experience will be extremely enjoyable for children who are passionate about the sport! Ballet training is included as an integrated component of Rhythmic Gymnastics.

In addition, Miami Gymnastics Academy prides itself on teaching correct Ballet and Rhythmic Gymnastics  techniques. It is vital for long-term success. All gymnasts will learn Rhythmic Gymnastics safely through proper skill progressions, strength and flexibility training, as well as necessary mental preparation.

Competitive Gymnasts need to participate in all Team Intensive programs and/or Team Camps/Clinics at Miami Gymnastics through the entire year

*Proper Attire: Black Leotard and Black “gym” Shorts, the Hair Pulled up in a Ballet Bun, Rhythmic half-shoes (available in our office).

RHYTHMIC  TEAM

Gymnasts begin participation in competitive USA Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior Olympic sanctioned meets beginning at level 3 and they must be 6 years old on or before the 1 st competition. Time commitment increases tremendously when gymnasts begin competing.

Rhythmic Gymnastics competition events test the strength, rhythm, musicality, balance, flexibility and agility of the gymnast. Gymnasts will be scored upon their level of difficulty, execution, artistry, expression, musicality and originality.  Beginning with Level 5, routines are designed specifically for the individual athlete, where the dance will enhance strong points and distinctive style.

Each level provides a new set of more difficult requirements on each event that must be included in routines. Miami Gymnastics offers training for gymnasts through level 10. As our gymnasts approach the upcoming levels, we will grow with our gymnasts and cater to their needs by providing the level of training they require.

Miami Gymnastics Academy prides itself on teaching correct Rhythmic Gymnastics technique. It is vital for long-term success. All gymnasts will learn gymnastics safely through proper skill progressions, strength and flexibility training, as well as necessary mental preparation.
